Below you will find some of the most frequently asked about topics when it comes to installing the NEC SL1100 phone system. Follow these steps and we'll get you connected to your system, and show you some basic voicemail functionality.

Connecting to an SL1100 that is NOT on a Network

This Quick Start Tutorial will show you our preferred method of connecting to an SL1100 with a simple router, so that you have the ability to access programming and we have the ability to Tech Support you remotely, without changing your computer's TCP/IP Settings.

Connecting to an SL1100 that IS on a Network

• NO VoIP Card

This Quick Start Tutorial is intended for customers who will install the phone system on to their LAN network, but will not utilize any VoIP Capabilities. It will explain how to establish a System IP Address within the range of your router, Disable DHCP, and then connect via PC PRO for programming.

Connecting to an SL1100 that IS on a Network

• With VoIP Card

This Quick Start Tutorial will show you our preferred method of connecting to an SL1100 with a simple router, so that you have the ability to access programming and we have the ability to Tech Support you remotely, without changing your computer's TCP/IP Settings.

Installation Instructions

Download the PC PRO Software and Connect to the Phone System

  1. Connect your PC to the SL1100 Phone System with the supplied Ethernet Cable
  2. Download the PC PRO Software and follow in the installation wizard to install it on to your PC
  3. Open the PC PRO Software by going to your PC's Start Menu > Programs > SL1100 Application Suite > SL1100 PC Pro
  4. When the Program opens, click the "Connect..." Button in the upper-lefthand corner
  5. Enter the IP Address Watch the Quick Connect Video Tutorial(s) Above to obtain your system's IP address
  6. Enter the Username: sltech and Password: 12345678 then click Connect
  7. Once connected, you should immediately click the Blue Download Button to retrieve the current programming from the phone system. Failure to do this could result in accidentally uploading and overwriting any programming currently on the phone system
  8. You are now connected, have retrieved and downloaded all the system information and are ready to make and programming changes to your NEC SL1100

Recording Voicemail Greetings

Recording an Automated Attendant Message (Mailboxes 001 through 032):

  1. From extension 101 press the "soft key" under the VM display on the LCD screen
  2. Wait for it to answer
  3. Dial "SA" [72] to reach the System Administrator options
  4. Dial "I" [4] to select the Instruction Menus option

Our default Day Greeting Mailbox is 002 and our default Night Greeting is 002. However, mailboxes 001 to 032 can be used, depending on how you choose to program the system.

  1. When prompted, enter the Call Routing Mailbox number 001 through 032
  2. Press "L" [5] to listen to the current Instruction Menu (if any)
  3. Press "R" [7] to record a new Instruction Menu
  4. Record your message: "Thank you for calling ABC Company. if you know your party's extension..."
  5. Press "L" [5] to listen to what you've just recorded
  6. If you're happy with your greeting, hang-up
  7. If not, press "R" [7] (Record Again)

Recording Virtual Extension Greetings (Mailboxes 250 through 265):

  1. From any extension, lift the handset
  2. Dial "3999"
  3. You will hear "Please enter the mailbox number"
  4. Dial the Department Group Number (i.e. 250 through 265)
  5. Press "G" [4] (Greeting)
  6. Press "1" (Greeting 1)
  7. Press "R" [7] to record
  8. Press "L" [5] to listen
  9. Hang up to exit

Recording a Personal Mailbox Greeting:

  1. From your extension, press the "soft key" under the VM display on the LCD screen
  2. Lift the handset
  3. Press "G" [4] (Greeting)
  4. Press "1" (Greeting 1)
  5. Press "R" [7] to record your message: "Hi this is Tina I'm on my phone or away from my desk..."
  6. Press "L" [5] to listen
  7. Hang up to exit

Recording your Mailbox Name and Extension:

  1. From your extension, press the "soft key" under the VM display on the LCD screen
  2. Lift the handset
  3. Press "RN" [76] (Record Name)
  4. Press "R" [7] to record your message: "Tina Smith, extension 101"
  5. Press "L" [5] to listen
  6. Hang up to exit

How to Check Mailbox Messages from Outside your Office:

  1. From any outside phone, dial your office
  2. Wait for your office main greeting to answer
  3. Press the Pound Key [#] plus your extension number (i.e. #101 for mailbox 101)
  4. Or Press the Pound Key [#] plus your virtual extension number (i.e. #250-265 when applicable)
  5. You're now at your mailbox
  6. Listen and follow the mailbox direction prompts
  7. Hang up to exit
